Introduction
Transactions that require PIN entry will automatically prompt a PIN entry screen when using Tap to Pay on iPhone.
For customers needing visual or other assistance, accessibility options are built in to Tap to Pay on iPhone to help them securely enter their PIN information.
Note. Please note that digital wallets like Apple Pay do not require PIN entry.
Enter amount
On the Home Page, enter the amount you would like to charge and select "Tap to Pay on iPhone.
Payment
Now, the customer can hold their payment means against the device.
When positioned correctly, a loading screen will appear.
PIN check
Hand over the terminal to your customer so they can enter their PIN code.
Notes
- This step won't be required for customers that pay with their Digital Wallet (Apple pay, Google pay, Samsung pay).
- PIN is required when amount surpasses a certain threshold (depending on each geography) or in certain specific instances like Soft Decline. If PIN is required, cardholder will be expected to enter their PIN for authorization request to be sent to MPG.
Please note that:
- To be compliant with PCI DSS, no other version of the PIN screen than the two versions below can be deployed:
- PIN screen with randomized placement in the screen
- PIN with scrambled numbers
- If transaction following PIN entry has failed, a retry button brings user back to phase 4 with the same amount.
- If cardholder cancels the purchase during PIN entry, a cancellation confirmation screen is displayed for 10 seconds so it can be shown to the customer, if needed.
Provide payment receipt
Once the transaction is accepted and processed, you'll have access to a receipt that can be shared with the customer via QR Code or sent by e-mail.
