Fast Onboarding

Overview

Fast Onboarding is a commercial option that lets eligible merchants start accepting payments before their Know Your Business (KYB) verification is complete. It is available across all three processing products: Payment Terminals, Tap to Pay, and Pay Online.

With Fast Onboarding, a merchant can begin processing transactions as early as the next business day after onboarding, while KYB verification continues in the background. Temporary processing limits apply until verification is completed — see Processing limits below.

Note: Fast Onboarding is only available when Market Pay is the merchant's acquirer.

Warning.Fast Onboarding is a commercial option and is not enabled by default. If you don't see it as an option when onboarding a company, contact your account manager to have it activated on your account.

Eligibility

Even when Fast Onboarding is available on your account, not every merchant qualifies. Eligibility is determined automatically, based on the merchant's activity code risk classification:

Risk level Fast Onboarding
Low Risk Available
Medium Risk Available
High Risk Not available

Merchants classified as High Risk always follow the standard onboarding process and must complete full KYB verification before they can process any transaction.

Opting for Fast Onboarding

Fast Onboarding is offered during company creation, in the Onboard new company form.

  1. Fill in the standard company fields: Account, Offer, Company name, Registration number, and Activity code.
  2. If the company is eligible, two options are displayed:
    • Skip verification — start accepting payments from the next business day. Processing limits apply until KYB verification is complete.
    • Continue to verification — follow the standard flow. Identity verification is handled securely by our partner Sumsub, and you'll be redirected to complete the remaining steps.
  3. Select Skip verification to use Fast Onboarding.

Note: The standard flow (Continue to verification) always remains available, whether or not you choose to skip verification.

Once you select Skip verification, the company is created with the status Pending verification. You can continue straight away with the next steps — Add a store, then Add solution(s) — or select Skip for now to complete them later.

Completing verification

Companies onboarded through Fast Onboarding appear like any other company on the Submissions page, with a status of Start KYB.

To complete verification, click Start KYB on the relevant company and follow the steps to submit the merchant's KYB documentation via Sumsub. Until this is done and validated, the merchant continues operating under the limits described below.

Processing limits

Processing can begin on the next business day following onboarding, provided the merchant contract has been signed. Until KYB verification is completed, the following limits apply:

Rule Detail
Daily processing limit Up to €500 per day, across all checkout types (Payment Terminals, Tap to Pay, Pay Online combined)
Duration Up to 5 consecutive days
Once the daily limit is reached Processing is automatically paused for the rest of the day and resumes the next day, as long as the merchant is still within the 5-day window
Refunds Not available during this period

Note: If KYB verification isn't completed within 5 consecutive days, payment processing is blocked until verification is finished. There is no other way to lift this block.

Settlements

While KYB verification is in progress:

  • Settlements are on hold.
  • Funds from processed transactions are retained.

Once KYB verification is successfully completed:

  • Settlement resumes automatically.
  • Any retained funds are released following the standard settlement schedule.

What happens once KYB is completed

As soon as KYB verification is successfully completed, all Fast Onboarding limits are lifted automatically:

  • The €500 daily processing limit no longer applies.
  • Refunds become available.
  • Settlements resume and retained funds are released.

No further action is needed — the merchant moves to standard processing rules automatically.

Good to know

  • Fast Onboarding doesn't skip KYB verification — it simply lets the merchant start processing while verification is completed in parallel.
  • It's only available when Market Pay is the merchant's acquirer.
  • It's only available for Low and Medium Risk merchants; High Risk merchants always follow the standard flow.
  • All processing, refund, and settlement limits are lifted automatically as soon as KYB verification is validated — there's nothing to configure manually.
